Keep track of baby trends

A global positioning system for a tot could come in handy for those times when a parent turns her back for two seconds. Which is why Safety 1st's In-Reach Child Tracking System is among the innovations on display at the American Baby Faire this weekend in Rosemont.

The system ($119.99), which uses wireless technology to alert a caregiver when a child leaves pre-set boundaries, is among more than 150 exhibits showcasing the latest baby products and trends at the ninth annual event. On display will be products such as Graco's new Infant SafeSeat ($129.99-$169.99), which tackles the problem of children out-growing seats before they are 1 and 20 pounds, when they can face forward. It accommodates a child of 1 and 30 pounds.

The expo, with a crawling derby, inflatable slide and other activities, is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 6 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Rd., Rosemont. Adult admission is $8; it's free for grandparents and children under 12. Call 877-959-2229.
